“Creamy mozzarella is made fresh on the premises daliy. Aficionados swear it’s the best in New Jersey outside Hoboken or Jersey City.
Like any ham-lover worth their salt, Belgiovine’s knows that the finest prosciutto is imported from Parma.
The Citterio sopressata is slow-aged and seasoned just like they do in the ‘old country’.
Roasted red peppers round out the perfect Italian sandwich
A drizzle of extra virgin olive oil and aged balsamic vinegar add the perfect finishing touch.”

Just yum. Always fresh bread, thick meaty sandwiches. Plus their house made specials - like stuffed peppers, eggplant, and all the delicious things - make this a must stop for deli fiends.
Don't even read the rest of my review, just go here and get a damn sandwich for yourself and everyone you care about. I always bring friends and family here for lunch when they come visit for the first time, and they still talk about how delicious this place is. Everything is fresh, the bread is great, sandwiches are big and for a fair price. Big selection of salads and sides and a whole fridge/freezer full of sauces, soups, entrees, and drinks. And the dudes that work there are always SUPER friendly, and not that kind of ball-busting friendly you usually get at Italian delis in Jersey (though one may argue that's a part of the experience).
Take it from a guy who has been going to Nicolo's at least once per week for each of the past 20 years (and LOVE it). I hit Belgiovine's for a change of pace and I can say this place is second to none. Let's face it Jersey is known for great deli's. This joint is right at the top of the heap. I had a ham, spicy sopresata with a piece of fried eggplant sub and I WEPT over it! Go Here NOW!
I gave up wheat a few months ago but was craving a sandwich today. I work in Montclair so I googled "Best sandwich in Montclair." This sandwich certainly lived up to that. I got the Veggie but instead of grilled eggplant I did fried bc if I am cheating once for the next few month, I am gonna do it right. The bread was perfect, the veggies (eggplant, arugula, sun dried tomato, roasted red peppers) with fresh mozzarella and balsamic vinaigrette were all spot on. I am still craving this sandwich 5 hours later.
This is going to be a mixed review so take it for what it's worth. I ordered sandwich platters and a large caprese salad for a meeting today. The order arrived exactly on time and the sandwiches were very attractive and tasty. Pricing was fine and they didn't charge extra for delivery!
But here's the downside: I had been quite specific that I had two attendees who are strict vegetarians and asked to make sure that at least three/four of the sandwiches were tomato/mozz or roasted veggies as specified on their order form. Unfortunately, none of the sandwiches were veggie-friendly. And the order came with two small packs of mustard, five small packs of mayonnaise and no paper products whatsoever. I've never had a catered lunch where paper products and mustard/mayo/ketchup, etc was not included; if I had been aware, I could have provided but to not provide and not indicate either on their menu or when ordering that this is not provided was really problematic.
Amazing food always. Love the G2 and the cutlets and cold cuts and all the ingredients are always so fresh and delicious.
Hit or miss depending on what employee you get to make your sandwich. 8/10 the sandwiches and meat slicing is done correctly. Classic Italian bakery that is always busy. Depending on when you go, might be wise to call ahead with your order.
Can we overlook the fact that my GPS took me through Upper Montclair to get to this deli and it hurt to know I'll never be rich and live somewhere this nice?
The litmus test for an Italian deli has to be their homemade sausage and/or meatballs and gravy ('sauce' or 'marinara' for you heathens) and on my first visit I went with the meatballs. And they were excellent. (They also knocked it out of the park with their breaded chicken cutlets, cold cuts and a few other odds and ends I picked up.)
To make sure it wasn't a fluke on my second visit I had to try their 'El Fuego' sandwich when I saw one component was 'muffuletta' (the traditional Muffuletta is without a doubt my all-time favorite sandwich and not something you ever see in Jersey). This heavy-duty sandwich was a scorchingly delicious work of beauty. My mouth was burning and I couldn't have been happier. (And all the other goodies I picked up on this visit were dynamite once again.)
Official verdict: Belgiovine's is fantastic.
Very cool staff (working their tails off behind the counter) to boot.
(It's Montclair so it should go without saying that it's a wee bit more expensive and parking is going to be a headache.)
MKA sand which was off the hook! true definition of a jersey true italian deli in the heart of montclair you can find any of the italian dishes you want! from fresh mozzarella to thinly sliced eggplant
The best Italian deli. Hands down. They also have a large selection of there food prepackaged and ready to go. LOVE IT.
