“Creamy mozzarella is made fresh on the premises daliy. Aficionados swear it’s the best in New Jersey outside Hoboken or Jersey City.
Like any ham-lover worth their salt, Belgiovine’s knows that the finest prosciutto is imported from Parma.
The Citterio sopressata is slow-aged and seasoned just like they do in the ‘old country’.
Roasted red peppers round out the perfect Italian sandwich
A drizzle of extra virgin olive oil and aged balsamic vinegar add the perfect finishing touch.”

I used to go here for lunch when I worked near by. Also I had been given a big gift card by the boss which inspired me to visit more lol. Good sandwiches. They have some precooked hot sandwhiches too but your better off with the cold cuts. If your in the area it's worth a try but I don't think it's worth making a specific trip for.
Stumbled here quite by accident when the Montclair Art Museum on the next block wasn't open yet. Yay for me!
My husband grew up with his parents owning a deli just like this, so this was a fun step into the past. We had the brocolli rabe and porchetta special as well as a traditional prosciutto & mozzarella sandwich, both made to order and happy to take our specific desires.
We bought a few other odds and ends in the shop, and they were kind enough to let us eat in the adjacent restaurant since we're out of towners with nowhere else to go on a scorching hot day.
Super delicious, really fresh, and truly friendly service. I want to come back when it's not so hot and/or I have a cooler in the car.
We are always a fan of Belgies. We usually shop a la carte and prep our own sandwiches - which usually includes the breaded chicken cutlet, ciabatta bread, roasted peppers, mozzarella and broccoli rabe, but found that ordering one of their prefixed sandwiches to be better priced. We had a regular size prosciutto, mozzarella, roasted peppers and arugula sandwich which was big enough for 2. The eggplant sounds amazing and will definitely put that on our list to try next time. Along with their outside seating, it's awesome they are able to open Broughton Grill next door for indoor dining. Plenty of options.
Place is great. Great bread (key to a great sandwich) and plenty of quality cold cuts. Ordered the mortadella with provolone, Italian Combo and the Belgiovine special. All great. Will definitely return to try some hot subs and also some of the other items I saw. (Ie stuffed bread, etc)
if you have a big appetite, then come here. the sandwiches are ginormous & delicious. if sandwiches aren't your thing, then they have a few entrees. they also have frozen prepped foods to take home.
this place doesn't have tables or seats inside. during the summer, there's a couple of tables outside. it's best for carry out.
Can we overlook the fact that my GPS took me through Upper Montclair to get to this deli and it hurt to know I'll never be rich and live somewhere this nice?
The litmus test for an Italian deli has to be their homemade sausage and/or meatballs and gravy ('sauce' or 'marinara' for you heathens) and on my first visit I went with the meatballs. And they were excellent. (They also knocked it out of the park with their breaded chicken cutlets, cold cuts and a few other odds and ends I picked up.)
To make sure it wasn't a fluke on my second visit I had to try their 'El Fuego' sandwich when I saw one component was 'muffuletta' (the traditional Muffuletta is without a doubt my all-time favorite sandwich and not something you ever see in Jersey). This heavy-duty sandwich was a scorchingly delicious work of beauty. My mouth was burning and I couldn't have been happier. (And all the other goodies I picked up on this visit were dynamite once again.)
Official verdict: Belgiovine's is fantastic.
Very cool staff (working their tails off behind the counter) to boot.
(It's Montclair so it should go without saying that it's a wee bit more expensive and parking is going to be a headache.)
Everything you want in a sub and more!
It was my first time, a friend had recommended Belgiovine a couple of years ago. They raved about it, so much so that I didn't forget when my craving for a sub kicked in. I ordered a turkey sub and asked for everything (LTO Mayo, oil + vinegar, S&P and oregano). I wanted hot peppers & the girl at the counter suggested the long hots. Great suggestion! ONE WORD- delicious! The bread was fresh and yummy, the turkey so thinly sliced but just the right amount to fill the sandwich.
Portions are sizable, I ordered a regular (vs. the large), but had to save the second half for later. They also have other homemade sides, and fresh vegetables, peppers artichokes etc. Definitely worth it, and I will be back!
It's a deli and sandwich shop. Lots of stuff you can buy and take home and cook. We got a chicken breast sandwich, mka special and italy's best. Chicken was good seasoned. The MKA was the best. The rice ball appetizer was delicious. Wife ended up eating that as her dinner instead of italy's best. There are so many sandwich shops around Montclair so it's hard to really stand out. We will be back to Belgiovines. I want to try some of their hot sammiches.
Used Belgiovine's today! They delivered 100 of the most delicious sandwiches for a school fundraiser. The food was incredible! And they generously gave us a very steep discount so that we were able to raise a lot of money for a great cause. Thank you Belgi's!
Service is medium so slow, bread is amazing and the subs are better than most practically anywhere. I always have to drink after eating one though. Well worth the time and money.
